Jefferson Parish Officials Urge Residents To Prepare For Hurricane Season

Jefferson Parish officials are urging residents to start preparing for the upcoming hurricane season.

Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng says recent hurricanes have intensified so quickly, she's not sure officials will have time to arrange for contraflow, which is turning all lanes of the Interstate one direction to speed evacuation.

Jefferson Parish Emergency Management Director Joe Valiente said people who aren't ready to move out in a hurry may find themselves riding out the hurricane at home.

Hurricane season starts on June 1.
