Three federal judges are giving Louisiana lawmakers a deadline for a third attempt at drawing a new congressional district map for the 2024 election.
The panel ruled last week that the map lawmakers approved in January used unacceptable racial gerrymandering to create two majority-black districts among the state's six districts.
After a Monday hearing, the judges said the legislature has until June 3 to come up with an acceptable map or the judges will create one themselves.
