The Rampart streetcar line is back in service nearly five years after the collapse of the Hard Rock Hotel forced it to close.

The collapse damaged the intersection of Rampart and Canal, which had to be repaired before the overhead lines that power the streetcars could be restored.

The Regional Transit Authority faced delays because of concurrent city projects and supply chain problems caused by the pandemic and Hurricane Ida.

Business owners and tourists are welcoming the return of the streetcar line.
