St. Tammany Parish Officials Buckle Up For Hurricane Season

Hurricane season is off to a quiet start so far, but St. Tammany Parish emergency operations officials are encouraging residents to make ready.

Parish President Mike Cooper says the southern part of the parish is especially prone to damage from storm surge.

NHC Highlights Possible Tropical Development Off Southeast U.S. Coast

Any development would be well away from the Gulf Coast.

Cooper says residents should prepare an evacuation plan and stock up on water, nonperishable food, batteries, and medical supplies.

The end of hurricane season is November 30.
