The FBI New Orleans field office says a full investigation is underway after the murder of a Loranger mother and kidnapping of her two daughters that ended in tragedy.

Erin and Jalie Brunett were reported missing Thursday after their mother Callie was found brutally murdered in her mobile home.

The suspect, Daniel Callihan, was captured in Jackson, Mississippi. Callihan reportedly led officers to Erin's body in a wooded area nearby. Jalie was found alive in his car and brought to a local hospital for treatment.

"We will continue to collaborate with our local law enforcement partners at the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office and Jackson Police Department," said FBI New Orleans Special Agent in Charge Lyonel Myrthil. "The FBI is dedicating all available resources and tools at its disposal to this investigation, including Victim Services personnel, who are working closely with the survivors of this unspeakable tragedy."

Police say 32-year-old Victoria Cox, who was reportedly traveling with Callihan, was arrested without incident at a South Jackson motel early Friday.

Deputies say Callihan may have been a sometimes boyfriend of the murdered mother. Charges that could carry the weight of the death penalty are pending.
