Tropical Storm Expected Soon In Gulf Of Mexico

The National Hurricane Center has begun advisories on a system expected to become a tropical storm.

Potential Tropical Cyclone Six had maximum winds of 50 miles per hour, moving northwest at 5 mph, as of Sunday afternoon.

The local National Weather Service office said impacts from the system are currently expected to be heavy rain and minor to moderate coastal flooding during the Wednesday/Thursday timeframe. Initial rainfall estimates for the area are between four to six inches, with higher amounts along the coast.

Residents are advised to closely monitor the progress of the system.
