Louisiana Officials Prepping For Storm Surge

All eyes are on the Gulf of Mexico as Tropical Storm Francine inches closer to the Louisiana coastline.

Gov. Jeff Landry told reporters Tuesday the state is ready to respond to any damage.

"We are pre-positioning assets so they will be available to the public," Landry said, noting he was confident that state agencies and federal partners were working seamlessly.

State Climatologist Jay Grymes says landfall is expected sometime on Wednesday.

"Look for tropical-storm force winds to start making their way along the coast by the mid-morning hours," Grymes estimated.

The head of the Louisiana National Guard says they have 87 boats and hundreds of high-water rescue vehicles that are pre-positioned.
