Louisiana Prepares for Hurricane Francine To Make Landfall

Hurricane Francine is now a Category 2 storm as it approaches the Louisiana coastline.

The latest update from the National Hurricane Center says Francine has maximum sustained winds of 100 miles per hour.

The state's coastline is starting to see life-threatening storm surge and hurricane conditions.

Francine is expected to make landfall on the Louisiana coast in the next few hours.

As the storm draws closer, state officials are warning the time to evacuate has passed and it's now time to hunker down in a safe place.

At last check, Francine was churning around 40 miles south-southwest of Morgan City, Louisiana -- and 100 miles southwest of New Orleans.
