The New Orleans City Council is set to vote on a proposal to ban outdoor Mylar balloon releases after recent incidents caused power outages.
One Mylar balloon led to a citywide boil water advisory in August, and another outage this month affected over 2,000 Entergy customers.
The ordinance, co-authored by all seven council members, would fine violators up to $2,000
The council will take up the measure on October 10.
