The New Orleans City Council is giving the go-ahead to a plan by Entergy New Orleans to improve its grid.
On Thursday, council members approved the first phase of Entergy's billion-dollar plan to harden the grid against storm damage.
Entergy New Orleans submitted the plan after Hurricane Ida in 2021.
The first phase will strengthen more than 3,000 structures and upgrade 63 electric line miles. The full ten-year project will involve hardening nearly 27,000 structures and more than 500 line miles.
