The executive director of the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans is stepping down effective May 2.

Ghassan Korban announced his upcoming resignation on Monday.

Korban has been in charge of the city's water, wastewater, and drainage services for just over six years. During his tenure, the utility has introduced the $300 million Power Complex, the Smart Metering Program, and the Water Hammer Hazard Mitigation Program.

A national search will soon be underway to find Korban's replacement.
