A Louisiana state senator wants campaign posters to be allowed in public school gyms and sports fields.
The state has banned this form of campaigning since 1984. But Sen. Eddie Lambert of Ascension Parish says he's been placing them at schools in his district for at least 20 years.
Lambert says his posters don't ask for anybody's vote, but congratulate a school team or wish them luck. He says they provide revenue for the athletic programs.
Lambert has filed a bill to allow placement of campaign posters in school gyms or stadiums if the candidate or the campaign pays for them.
