Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office Recaps Mardi Gras Safety Efforts

The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office is giving a recap of their public safety efforts during the carnival season that ended on Mardi Gras this week.

A news release says 200 deputies and 225 officers from 25 other agencies were in place all along parade routes over the ten days of parades.

The police presence included the mobile booking unit in the French Quarter, officers on horseback and motorcycles, the Operation Lost Kids Zone, and the NOLA Hub to support crime victims.

The sheriff's office reports making arrests for 53 weapons charges, 52 drug charges, and 12 assault charges.
