The Pelicans are closing in on hiring their new team president.
ESPN reports that New Orleans is finalizing a deal with Naismith Hall of Famer Joe Dumars to become the franchise's new president of basketball operations.
The two-time NBA champion and title-winning executive will return to his home state of Louisiana to replace David Griffin as the head of basketball operations.
Dumars has worked as the NBA league office's executive vice president of basketball operations since 2022.
