Thousands of Louisiana families are waiting to find out how much the state legislature will allocate to the LA GATOR Scholarship Program.
The program called LA GATOR, or Louisiana Giving All True Opportunity to Rise, is an expansion of the state's existing school voucher system.
The state Department of Education says Gov. Jeff Landry has requested just over $93 million for the program, which would cover about 12,000 students.
The Education Department says more than 39,000 families have applied for the program.
