An investigation is underway after an inmate in the Jefferson Parish Jail killed himself early Sunday morning.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office says the man was found unresponsive around 7 a.m. inside his cell. He was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
A sheriff's office spokesman said the death was "an in-custody suicide," but didn't give details.
The inmate's identity hasn't been released.
