Some Louisiana lawmakers are considering a major tax hike as a means of combating teen vaping in the state.

A House bill would raise sales taxes on vape products from 15 cents per milliliter to 33 percent on each sale of the product.

Democratic Representative Ken Brass authored the bill, and he defended the tax in a House Ways and Means Committee meeting on Tuesday.

Some Republican lawmakers don't like the idea of another tax hike so soon after an increase in sales taxes late last year.
