A woman and her adult son are accused of running a dogfighting training site on their property near Folsom.

St. Tammany Parish deputies on Monday investigated reports of animal abuse at a property on South Hay Hollow Road.

Deputies found 28 underfed dogs, mostly pitbulls, that showed signs of being used in dogfighting. They also found training equipment, drugs associated with dogfighting, and an illegal gun.

Natia Alexander and Austin Alexander were arrested for dogfighting, and for training and possession of dogs for fighting.

Animal control officers took custody of the dogs.
