Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson's three challengers in this fall's election say Friday's escape of ten inmates from the Orleans Parish jail proves she shouldn't be reelected.

Michelle Woodfork, the former interim superintendent of the New Orleans Police Department, issued a statement about Hutson's "incompetence."

Gov. Jeff Landry announced on Sunday that the reward is now $20,000 per inmate.

Retired judge Julian Parker said it's "disturbing" to hear the inmates may have had inside help.

Court constable Edwin Shorty Jr. decried the "delay in notifying residents" about the escape.

A spokesperson for Hutson said some people are trying to "politicize" a "public safety issue."
