The Louisiana House is moving to streamline the state's social services.
The House on Wednesday passed a bill to reorganize the Department of Children and Family Services so it would focus on protecting children.
All other social service programs the DCFS provides would be taken over by the proposed Louisiana Works Department, which a second bill creates by renaming the Louisiana Workforce Commission.
The Department of Health would administer SNAP benefits and eligibility.
