Repairs are getting underway on the Boudreaux Canal Bridge in Chauvin.
The bridge on Highway 56 was abruptly shut down a week ago because of deterioration.
It's one of seven bridges that are closed across Terrebonne Parish, causing problems for residents and businesses.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development will work on the bridge through the weeks ahead, with a goal to reopen it for vehicular traffic by late July.
Finishing touches will continue on the bridge afterward.
