The U.S. Supreme Court will hear additional arguments about Louisiana's congressional map during their next term.
The justices announced their decision on Friday. Justice Clarence Thomas dissented, saying the case should be handled sooner instead of later.
State lawmakers approved the map last year in an attempt to create a second majority-minority congressional district. A group of non-black voters in the district challenged the new map.
State Attorney General Liz Murrill says her office is looking forward to arguing the case.
