New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell is claiming unfair persecution at the hands of her political opposition.
Cantrell made the remarks on Sunday at the annual Essence Festival during a panel discussion hosted by the Global Black Economic Forum.
She didn't mention the controversies that came up in her second term, including her frequent overseas trips at taxpayers' expense, problems with drainage and street repairs, and a broken promise to fund the city's public schools.
Cantrell is term-limited and can't run again this fall.
