The violent crime rate in New Orleans is seeing new low levels.

The city has had 54 murders this year, including the Bourbon Street terrorist attack on New Year's Day. That's the fewest in the first six months of any year since 1960.

As recently as 2022, New Orleans was the nation's murder capital.

Analysts credit the job being done by the New Orleans police, as well as the state police detachment known as Troop NOLA.

The NOPD is reporting a drop in nearly every category of violent crime.
