Three current and former Louisiana police chiefs are under arrest on allegations of visa fraud.
Federal officials have taken the wraps off a massive investigation into forged police reports. Illegal immigrants would be named as a crime victim, and then sold visas to them so they could be shielded from deportation.
Also arrested was the owner of a Subway franchise, who was called a "facilitator" in court papers.
The U.S. Attorney for Louisiana made it a point, at a news conference, to say that the allegations do not mean that the named police departments are corrupt. Details about the investigation were not made available.
