An enormous alligator is being sighted lately in Westwego, but it's nothing to be afraid of.

The 163-foot reptile is pictured in a new mural on the levee alongside Sala Avenue and River Road.

Local artist Joshua Wingerter created the mural in four days after working with city officials and the Levee Committee of the West Bank on the idea of the "state's largest painted gator."

Wingerter first caught people's attention during the pandemic by creating graffiti art on boarded-up windows in the French Quarter.
