Smitty's Now Faces Five Lawsuits After Explosion, Fire At Roseland Plant

The lawsuits against Smitty's Supply Inc. are continuing to pile up following last Friday's explosion and fire.

Two more lawsuits were filed on Tuesday against the oil and lubricant plant in Roseland, bringing the total to five. At least four of the five lawsuits request class-action status.

There were no injuries, but the plaintiffs are suing for exposure to potentially toxic chemicals, emotional distress, business interruption, potential harm to property values, and inconvenience related to the mandatory evacuation that resulted.

The mandatory evacuation order was lifted on Tuesday.
