Two Orleans Parish deputies are out of a job and five others are suspended after the recent mistaken release of the wrong inmate.
Khalil Bryan was released from the jail on July 25 instead of an inmate with a similar last name. The error wasn't noticed for hours.
An investigation found that the release happened because deputies failed to follow ID verification procedures.
In addition to disciplinary measures, the Sheriff's Office introduced new policies.
Bryan was captured in Texas last month and is back in custody at the jail.
