The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of a solid silver statue from Houmas House Estate and Gardens in Darrow.

Owner Kevin Kelly says the historic home gets about 200,000 visitors a year, and he suspects one of his guests made off with the 64-pound likeness of Abraham Lincoln.

Investigators say the statue is estimated to be worth about $100,000.

Kelly says every pawn shop in the nation has been alerted.
