U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy says the state government could make it easier for people to get the COVID vaccine.
The federal Food and Drug Administration is now limiting the updated vaccines to people 65 and older, and to younger people at risk for serious complications from the virus.
Louisiana is one of the states that will require a prescription to get the vaccine.
Cassidy, who is a medical doctor, says a physician with the state government could write a blanket prescription that would cover anybody who wants to be vaccinated.
Gov. Jeff Landry fired back on social media, calling the vaccine "dangerous" and suggested Cassidy is in the pocket of "big pharma".
