The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating after a woman died in custody at the parish jail over the weekend.
Sheriff Joseph Lopinto says deputies found the woman unresponsive around 1:15 a.m. Friday.
Medical staff and EMS performed life-saving measures, but the woman was pronounced dead about 20 minutes later.
Her name hasn't been released. The medical examiner will determine her cause of death.
