A Hammond teenager is in custody and accused of bringing drugs to school on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip, Tangipahoa Parish deputies tried to search Ryan Brown Jr.'s belongings, but Brown reportedly ran away and jumped into another student's car. A school resource officer blocked the car with his unit.
Deputies say Brown threw several packets of pills out of the car that turned out to be opiates, heroin, and possibly fentanyl.
Brown is charged with drug possession, violation of a drug-free zone, resisting an officer, and obstruction of justice.
