Britney Spears is seeking prayers for her 8-year-old niece who was critically injured Sunday in an ATV crash in Tangipahoa Parish.
Maddie Aldridge, the daughter of Jamie Lynn Spears, was trapped underwater for several minutes after the vehicle flipped over.
In a posting on Twitter, Britney Spears wrote, "Need all the prayers and wishes for my niece."
The crash occured around 3 p.m. Sunday at a residence along Highway 51 in Fluker.
In a press release, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office termed it "an extremely tragic accident" and asked the public to "respect" the privacy of the family "during this time of need."
