FEMA To Provide Assistance To Tornado Victims

President Trump has issued a disaster declaration for Orleans Parish and FEMA will make individual assistance available to those who suffered losses from the EF-3 tornado that caused extensive damage in New Orleans East.

The disaster declaration was signed just one day after it was formally requested by Governor John Bel Edwards who applauded the president's quick response.

“This declaration is key to getting assistance into the hands of the families who’ve been impacted," the Governor said in a statement released by his office.

"Everyone, from the local, state and federal level, have been instrumental in responding to these tornadoes.  I want to thank President Trump for his quick assistance, and I commit to the people of South Louisiana that we will do everything within our power to help them rebuild as quickly as possible."

FEMA is expected to provide up to $33,000 in assistance to those who qualify.
