Reuters reports that Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen has been approached about a possible acquisition by the company that owns Burger King and Tim Hortons, Restaurant Brands International.
Restaurant Brands was formed in 2014, when Burger King acquired Hortons, a Canadian coffee and doughnut chain, for $11 billion.
Reuters reports that RBI and Popeyes have yet to agree on a price and says there is no certainty that negotiations will continue.
Popeyes was founded by the late Al Copeland in St. Bernard Parish in 1972.
The company operates some 2000 restaurants around the world, 1600 of which are in the U.S.
