Reports: Pels Trade For DeMarcus Cousins of the Kings

According to multiple media reports, the Sacramento Kings have agreed to trade DeMarcus Cousins and Omri Casspi to the Pelicans in exchange for Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans, Langston Galloway and a 2017 first-round pick and 2017 second-rounder.

ESPN reported that sources said the first-round pick is top-three protected.

Cousins' agent told ESPN earlier on Sunday that the 26-year-old Cousins probably would decline to sign a contract extension this summer with any team that traded for him before Thursday's deadline.

The Pelicans say they feel confident they can eventually re-sign Cousins, who is from nearby Mobile, Alabama, to a long-term extension, a league source told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.

The former Kentucky standout is averaging 27.8 points and 10.6 rebounds.

Cousins is expected to play his first game with the Pelicans when they host Houston on Thursday night.
