"Boogie" Bids Farewell To Sacramento

As he prepares to join the Pelicans, Demarcus Cousins has bid a tearful farewell to Sacramento.

Cousins said goodbye in a video posted to twitter on Monday.

"I love this city and never change," he said. "Even though I'm going it'll still be the same, still looking out for these kids. Every family in this city matters to me. ... Everything's the same, I'm just not in a Kings uniform anymore. ... but the love is still there. Thank you very much."

Earlier on Monday, Kings General Manager Vlade Divac said in a press release, "It was time for a change and I decided this was the best direction for the organization. ...Winning begins with culture and character matters."

Cousins was traded Sunday night by the Kings.  He was known for his volatile personality on the court, but off the court was heavily involved working with kids and charities around Sacramento.  He was selected fifth overall by the Kings in the 2010 draft.  Cousins will play his first game with the Pelicans on Thursday night when they host the Rockets.
