The NOPD is investigating a Thursday morning fatal shooting in Central City.
It happened in the 2000 block of Rev. John Raphael Jr. Way, a street named for the late pastor who created signs reading, "Thou Shalt Not Kill" as he took a stand against gun violence.
At about 2:45 a.m., officers discovered a man with gunshot wounds lying on the sidewalk. He was transported to an area hospital, where he later died.
The name of the victim will be released by the Orleans Parish Coroner's Office.
