The NOPD is investigating what appears to have been an accidental shooting on Napoleon Avenue near St. Charles Avenue at mid-afternoon on Saturday.
A parade spectator from Metairie was hit by a bullet that came from a portable toilet that was on the neutral ground.
The man was struck in the side around 2:30 p.m. and was listed in stable condition.
Police believe that the person with the gun "mishandled the weapon" after entering the portalet. Officers determined that there was no altercation that preceded the shooting.
The NOPD is asking for help in identifying the man who fired the gun.
