Congressman Steve Scalise has joined other GOP Congressional leaders at a meeting at the White House with President Trump.
In a tweet after the session, Scalise described the meeting dealing with a replacement for Obamacare as "great."
"We had a great meeting with @POTUS today about repealing and replacing Obamacare to make quality healthcare more affordable and accessible," Scalise wrote.
Republicans and the President have yet to unveil a replacement program. Mr. Trump says it needs to provide better care, expanded choice for consumers, and lower premiums and deductibles.
The new plan will include coverage for persons with pre-existing conditions and may include tax credits to help consumers purchase private insurance.
Democrats were not invited to the lunch but White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said that the President wiill meet with Democrat leaders and "rank and file" members of Congress in the coming weeks.
