A 49-year-old female cashier working at a Shell station in Metairie was attacked on Friday morning by a deranged man.
The victim was stabbed and beaten. She was listed in stable condition at the East Jefferson Medical Center with injuries that the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office said did not appear to be life-threatening.
The incident occurred around 3 a..m. at the station at 4400 Clearview Pkwy.
The woman told investigators the man walked into the store yelling and screaming and for no apparent reason began attacking her. Following the assault, the suspect fled without taking anything.
The man was described as a black male, 35-40 years of age, 6 ft. tall, approximately 225 pounds, with long dreads. He was wearing a white long sleeve shirt, reddish-orange pants with brown shoes.
