New Orleans City Councilwoman Susan Guidry will not seek election to an "at-large" seat on the Council next year.
The 62-year-old Guidry is in her second term as the representative of District "A" and can't seek re-election to that seat.
She was elected in March 2010 and re-elected in February 2014. Her professional career has included working as an attorney and community activist, as well as teaching English on the junior high and high school level.
Also leaving the Council next year will be "at-large" member Stacy Head who is term-limited. State Representative Helena Moreno has expressed interest in running for that seat and has told the New Orleans Advocate that she may make a decision as early as next week.
