A man was shot in Algiers around midnight, New Orleans police say.
Initial New Orleans Police Department reports show a man was shot near the intersection of Tullis and Woodland drives.
The victim, a 50-year-old man, was coming out of the Julian Discount when he was approached by the perpetrators, described as five black male juveniles.
The perpetrators asked for change. As the victim produced money, a gun was put to his head and he was robbed.
A struggle ensued. During the struggle, the victim suffered a gunshot wound.
He fled to a home in the area and was later taken to nearby hospital by EMS.
