State Representative Helena Moreno has announced she's running for an "at large" seat on the New Orleans City Council.
"I've really enjoyed working on state policy," Moreno told supporters gathered at the Basin Street Station on Thursday evening. "But I've been listening to you, and I've heard from you, there's more to do right here at home."
The Democrat will seek the seat being vacated by Stacy Head who is term-limited and can not seek re-election.
The 39-year-old Moreno, a former television reporter, was elected to the state House in District 93 in 2010.
