The victims of a shooting found dead in a home in the 4200 block of Touro Street in Gentilly on Friday morning have been identified as a 30-year-old woman and her two young sons.
Another child, a girl, was wounded.
The victims were Monique Smith and 6 year old Jumyrin Smith and 10-year old Justin Simms.
Their bodies were found in the house shortly after 4 a.m.
Briefing reporters shortly after 6:30 a.m., NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison described the scene as "horrific."
"Every murder breaks a heart, but to find that children were involved, people were involved, multiple people. We're working to get the answers to all that," Harrison said.
There was no immediate word on possible suspects or a motive.
Harrison urged anybody with information to call Crimestoppers at 822-1111. The organization is offering a reward of $5,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.
