Fifth Debris Sweep Begins In N.O. East

The City of New Orleans is conducting a fifth and final pass for debris removal of neighborhoods impacted by the EF-3 tornado in New Orleans East in February.

The sweep, beginning today and continuing through Friday, will cover the area between from Chantilly Drive and Bullard Avenue from Chef Menteur Highway to Dwyer Road.

To ensure pick-up, all debris must be separated into proper piles no later than Friday.

At the conclusion of the first four passes, over 15,000 tons of debris had been cleared from the impacted area.

The city continues to work with organizations coordinating volunteer clean-up opportunities. Residents who need assistance with cleaning up debris may call 2-1-1 to register.
