The Young Leadership Council is launching another season of "Wednesday at the Square" concerts in New Orleans tonight.
The 12 concert series begins at 5 p.m. at Lafayette Square across from Gallier Hall on St. Charles Avenue with performances by headliner Irma Thomas and opening act Jamal Batiste.
The series will feature several well-known local and regional musical acts including Christian Scott, Marc Broussard, PJ Morton of Maroon 5, Flow Tribe, George Porter, Jon Cleary, and Kermit Ruffins.
The concerts will take place every Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. through May 24. An additional concert featuring Grammy-nominated and native-son Christian Scot will be held on Tuesday, May 2 between the two weekends of Jazz Fest.
The Wednesday at the Square concert series is free and open to the public. Proceeds from food and drink sales will benefit YLC’s community service projects, designed to improve the quality of life in the Greater New Orleans area and foster leadership skills in young professionals.
