St. Patrick's Day Marked In N.O. With Block Parties

St. Patrick's Day is being marked in New Orleans with block parties and some small parades.

The Irish Channel Club is hosting a party from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m, at the Annunciation Playground at 1500 Chippewa Street, featuring music, dancers, food and drinks.  Proceeds will benefit the St. Michael's Special School.

Tracey's Original Irish Channel Bar at Third and Magazine Streets will be serving up corned beef and cabbage, roast beef po-boys and green beer from 10 a.m to 8 p.m.

Live music is planned at The Irish House in the 1400 block of St. Charles Avenue.  The first performance is scheduled for 12 p.m.

The Downtown Irish Club will parade through the French Quarter at 6 p.m.  The march begins at Burgundy and Piety in the Bywater.  Jim Monaghan's 35th Annual St. Patrick's Day begins at 6 at Molly's at the Market on Decatur Street.

The annual Louisiana Irish-Italian Parade rolls in Metairie at noon on Sunday.  It begins at the Clearview Mall and travels down Veterans Boulevard.
