"Spike" the NOPD Dog Is Recovered

"Spike," an NOPD police dog has been recovered after going missing for several hours on Thursday.

At about midnight, the dog was placed in his kennel by his partner officer at the officer’s residence in the Pontchartrain Park neighborhood. When the officer returned later in the day to feed the dog, the officer discovered that "Spike" had pulled a portion of his kennel apart, creating a small hole that allowed him to escape.

Just a couple of hours after the NOPD asked for the public's help in finding the Malinois, the department announced around 10 p.m. on Thursday that the dog, with tan and brown fur and a silver choke collar around his neck, had been recovered.
