Suspect Named In Death of EBR Deputy

Authorities in Baton Rouge have identified the suspect in the fatal shooting of East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Sgt. Shawn Anderson.

30-year-old Brandon Wiley was being questioned about the alleged rape of a 15 year old girl by Sgt. Anderson and another deputy at the time Anderson was shot late Saturday night at the Classic Cuts hair salon on O'Neal Lane.

The shooting is being investigated by State Police who have declined to release any details of what happened.

Wiley was wounded and reportedly was in critical condition.   He has been charged with first-degree rape and resisting an officer.

Wiley has a lengthy arrest record that includes a conviction for shooting of two men during a fight.  He was initially charged with attempted second-degree murder, but the charges were reduced to aggravated battery and he was sentenced to 13 months in prison in 2005.
